Creation Care:
Earth as Neighbor

We are an evolving group of all ages exploring a conviction that Creation care is an essential part our human vocation in God.  We seek to encourage one another, the KBC community, and the broader community to develop harmonious and sustainable relationships with Creation.  We affirm that “the universe is not a collection of objects, but a communion of subjects” (Thomas Berry, The Great Work.)

We welcome your input and participation as
we explore and embody our faith together!

Our Action Projects:

  • Systematic efforts for recycling at KBC, with major leadership coming from KBC youth.
  • A facilities energy audit, looking at how we can be more responsible in our use of water and electricity.  The audit has identified several opportunities for savings that are being pursued by various church committees, staff, and members.
  • A resource center where members can find books, pamphlets, and videos to help us live out our vocation as responsible stewards in God’s Creation.
  • Earth Day observances and actions designed to broaden our awareness of personal and communal actions we can take for Creation care.
  • Educational & spiritual development opportunities in the church and in the community to help us learn more about our relationship with God’s earth and all its creatures.

Meeting Times:

The final Sunday of each month at 9am, in room B113 (next to the library).
