Theology and The Arts
The congregational council created an ad hoc committee to focus
on theology and the arts. This group was charged with integrating the
arts into all aspects of our church life. The committee offers special
programs, small groups, retreats, worship experiences, and resources in
the context of theology and spirituality and the arts.
The committee has created
reflective readings and visuals for weekly worship services, a small group
on faith and films, a Wednesday night program on healing through a creative
response to violence, and an inventory of art interests and experiences
of members. The committee hopes to offer a Taize' service on Palm Sunday an art display with contributions from the congregation, additional
small group experiences in the arts, and a Christmas jazz service. The
committee is also building a lending library of theology and the arts
resources.
Additional programming and project ideas are welcomed from the congregation.
