Knollwood’s fiftieth anniversary celebration embraces activism in the Winston-Salem community: we are building a house through the able guidance of Habitat for Humanity! The Missions Committee approved and funded this initiative several months ago.

Foremost, the goal is to involve as many people as possible in this ambitious endeavor. There are a number of volunteer positions in which you can serve. Wiley Guthrie and Sam Owen are the church coordinators and will be thrilled to hear from you now!

Additionally, while funding has been identified for this project, the Committee is receiving regular inquiries about individual financial participation. Any contributions toward this house for a deserving family frees mission funding. If you have any interest in participating in this manner, please write your check to Knollwood with “Habitat House” written in the memo section.

The bottom line is this: get involved with this worthy work! Indeed, let us give thanks to God for all that we celebrate in this our fiftieth year of mission and ministry at Knollwood!
What to Do
We need 20 to 25 volunteers for May 12, our first “work day” on the project. Review your schedule and if possible, please sign up to assist with the following: construct walls, deck frame and fly rafters – to be done at the Habitat Warehouse on 339 Witt St, Winston Salem, NC. The schedule in the column to the left lists the additional work days when we will need 10 to 12 workers per day. A typical workday is from 8 a.m to 3 p.m., but it is possible to work a morning to afternoon shift. Sign-up sheets will be circulated in the near future – don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to be involved with Habitat for Humanity!
