Children's Ministry

A variety of programs are offered at Knollwood specifically for children. Sunday School classes are offered for each age group, infants through fifth grade. A chapel time at the opening of Sunday School is offered each week for the elementary children (grades 1-5) as well as a music time for two-year-olds through five-year-olds. An Extended Session program offers child care for infants through five-year-olds each Sunday during worship; parents and other volunteers staff the extended session time on a ten week rotation. Children's Worship classes are held each Sunday, August - May for elementary children. These children participate in worship for part of the service and then meet in a classroom to study elements of worship for the second part of worship hour.

		Family Night each Wednesday, September - May, includes activities for children. A nursery is provided for infants through three-year-olds. Mission Friends' groups are offered for four- and five-year-olds and for first and second graders. These children work on mission projects as well as study Biblical characters who are models of faithful living. Third through fifth graders meet for a Bible Study and Mission Group. In addition to adopting local groups for mission action, the group studies the scriptural readings for the liturgical year. Graded Choirs and Bell Choirs are also offered each Wednesday, September - May for our children. The Preschool Committee and the Elementary Committee offer additional activities for our children. These events include cookouts, field trips, and other fellowship activities. In addition, children enjoy Vacation Bible School, an enrichment program for preschoolers and elementary children, and Camp Carefree, an overnight camp experience including Bible study, music, crafts, worship, and recreational activities.
