A member at Knollwood since 2002, Diane joined the ministry staff in late 2014. Wearing two—at least—vocational hats, she is also a professor of religion at Salem College in Winston-Salem, specializing in the New Testament and ancient Christianity.
She has written both Bible study guides and scholarly works, with special interests in the Gospels; women and gender in the church, then and now; and how faith communities respond to crises of human migration.
Born in Canada, Diane also spent parts of her youth in Australia, Texas, and Alaska, but has called Virginia and North Carolina home for more than two decades. She is married to Richard Vinson—also a minister, also a professor. Together they are blessed with five sons, three daughters-in-law, two grandchildren (so far), two cats and a dog. Their youngest son, Chris Wudel, is ever-active at Knollwood—he’s the one with the big smile.
