Ms. Lauren Winkelman

Music Ministry Associate and Organist

A member of Knollwood since 2000, Lauren has been serving on the music ministry staff since September 2013. She was formally trained as a pianist at Baldwin-Wallace College (B.M., piano) and The Cleveland Institute of Music (M.M., accompanying) where she received the prestigious Gwendolyn Koldofsky Award for Accompanying.

In addition to her weekly service playing responsibilities, Lauren directs two handbell choirs, and she serves as the collaborative musician with the Chancel and Youth Choirs. She also provides general administrative support to the music program.

As a freelance artist in the Winston-Salem area, Lauren has appeared on the Sounds of the Summer organ recital series and performed in concert with UNCSA faculty, Music Carolina players, and the Winston-Salem Youth Chorus. She also recently joined the accompanying staff at Wake Forest University.

Lauren is married to David Winkelman, pianist and associate dean of UNCSA’s School of Music, and mother to Daniel and Annie.
