Crisis Control Ministry relies on Knollwood’s Ingathering as one of their largest congregational donations of nonperishable food items each year. Our food drive is open to the community, and we invite everyone to fill bags of food for our community members experiencing food insecurity.
This year — perhaps more than ever given the government shutdown and many cuts in federal funding — food pantries across our country are responding to unprecedented need, daily facing long lines of people dealing with food shortages. As we celebrate God’s bounty to us this Thanksgiving, let us share that bounty with others. The Crisis Control truck will be in the Knollwood parking lot on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 1-3 PM to collect nonperishable food items from the community or church members. A list of suggested items to donate is below, or pick up a bag at church on Sunday mornings (Nov. 9 and 16) or Wednesday evenings (Nov. 12 and 19).
On Sunday, Nov. 23, bags of food can be dropped off starting at 9 AM at the front of the sanctuary, where individuals will be available to assist you, or you can bring them to the chancel area before worship. We will then work together to fill the Crisis Control truck after the worship service. Let’s exceed even our previous records for generosity in our response!
