Our staff tries to create an environment where learning can happen when the child is ready and at his or her own rate, so much teaching occurs on an individual and small-group basis.
You’ll hear lots of laughter in our hallways! Our goal is to teach children to love learning, and that learning is fun.
We use the Creative Curriculum, which is developmentally appropriate and is based on theory and research as to how children learn. Children are encouraged to take responsibility in their own learning. Teachers develop themes and lessons based on each child’s interest.
The Knollwood Baptist Church Through-the-Week School began in September 1972 as a mission of the church and community. We have 27 staff members, of whom the majority have four-year degrees and several have master’s degrees. We require teachers to participate in continuing education each year.
Our facilities allow for the development of large- and small-motor activities as we seek to help each child achieve good learning experiences on his or her own level.
The 5-year-old Readiness class offers reading, mathematics, and language materials similar to those used in public school, but with the advantage of a shorter day and more personal attention.
TTWS is a peanut- and tree nut–free school. This includes Brazil nuts, almonds, cashews, pistachios, walnuts, pecans, and hazelnuts.
All snacks we serve are free of peanuts and tree nuts. We also ask that no peanut or tree nut products be brought in to school.
If it is financially prohibitive for your child to attend, you may apply for a scholarship in the preschool office.
To be eligible for our preschool, a child must be of the age of the class in which he or she wishes to enroll on or before August 31.
Knollwood's traditional summer fun has a new name and we are excited for the upcoming summer. We're offering five fun-filled sessions of camp for children ages 3 months through rising kindergartners.
