Isaiah 25:6-9; 1 Corinthians 15:19-26; Luke 24:1-8
Paul calls death “the last enemy” (1 Cor. 15:26), a poignant description of the devastating effect death has upon us all. But the Gospels proclaim that on Easter morning, God triumphed over death in the resurrection of Jesus. And Paul proclaims that this triumph is the “first fruit” of many resurrections yet to come. Such a confidence empties death of its power to cower and paralyze and enables us to live in hope.
