The tragic history of antisemitism has been fueled in part by the belief that the “New Covenant,” fulfilled in Jesus, dispenses with the "Old Covenant." This assertion is fundamentally flawed. Instead, it is possible to believe, as 2 Timothy asserts, that “Jesus Christ is judge of the living and dead” (4:a), while also celebrating Jews as God’s children. This confession is vitally importance in today’s divided, hate-filled world.
