Advent 2025

Join us for a full and festive season as we celebrate the Christ Child’s birth with a variety of seasonal activities, including our Barely Rehearsed Christmas Pageant, Advent-themed Wednesday programs, Sunday worship, and a candlelight Christmas Eve service.

ADVENT DEVOTIONAL

“Longing for God’s Light,” our devotional guide for Advent, Christmastide, and Epiphany, features original writing and artistic expressions from Knollwood members and friends. It was beautifully designed and edited by Mary Hix and Dorothy Wagener. Copies of the devotional are available around campus while supplies last.

NOVEMBER 30
FIRST SUNDAY • ADVENT HOPE

10:45 AM: Worship – The Chancel Choir leads us in worship that begins the season of hopeful waiting.

3-4:30 PM: Advent Wreath Making with Marissa Joyce (Arts & Hearts Room) – This craft is kid-friendly and for all ages. KBC will provide candles and materials, but please bring garden clippers and greenery cuttings from your yard to share. Register by Nov. 23.

DECEMBER 3
WEDNESDAY ADULT PROGRAMMING

6 PM: Nativity Story Stones – On this intergenerational evening, we will learn about each nativity scene character and connect them to scripture passages traditionally read during Advent and Christmas. We’ll then create our own nativity story stones to help remind us of the wonderful miracle of Jesus’ birth. All ages are welcome.

DECEMBER 5 & 6
CHRISTMAS WRAPPED IN BRASS CONCERTS

7:30 PM, Dec. 5 (Greensboro, Dana Auditorium at Guilford College) and Dec. 6 (Winston-Salem, Brendle Recital Hall at Wake Forest University) – Celebrate the magic of the season with a holiday concert presented by the North Carolina Brass Band. This festive performance brings together the thrilling power of a full brass band with the uplifting voices of choirs from across the Triad, including Knollwood’s Chancel Choir. Experience your favorite Christmas classics, carols, and holiday hits like never before in a joyful musical celebration that’s perfect for the whole family. Get tickets and find out more details.

DECEMBER 7
SECOND SUNDAY • ADVENT PEACE

9-9:45 AM: Advent Brunch Gather in the Fellowship Hall for a festive celebration with your Knollwood family before Sunday school and worship. Take a family photo in front of the Christmas tree and pick up your 2025 Knollwood ornament. Brunch items, coffee, and Knollwood punch will be served.

10:45 PM Worship – The Children, Youth, and Chancel choirs combine on a beloved piece of choral music. Youth Handbells will play, and we’ll celebrate Communion. This Sunday prepares us for Christ’s birth and reign of peace.

DECEMBER 10
WEDNESDAY ADULT PROGRAMMING

6 PM: Advent as Courage / Proposed 2026 Ministry Plan – Hope, peace, joy, and love – the four themes of Advent are less soft emotions than disciplines that require courage, tenacity, steadiness in the face of risk, and conviction about God’s good purposes. With Diane Lipsett and Rick Vinson as guides, we’ll turn to stories of Mary, Joseph, and an angel bearing a message (Luke 1:26-38 and Matthew 1:16,18-25) to reflect on courage in Advent 2025.

We’ll also welcome the Finance Committee to lead us through the Proposed Ministry Plan for 2026.

DECEMBER 14
THIRD SUNDAY • ADVENT JOY
