"A Tongue of Fire Above Every Head"
Dr. Bob Setzer, Jr. preaching
On Pentecost, the birthday of the church, the Holy Spirit “baptized” every believer. On the one hand, this created a new kind of community, where new kinds of listening and speaking and serving were possible. On the other, this new community did not compromise the individuality of each person present, a point emphasized in Acts 2, verse 4: “Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them.” The Holy Spirit births a deeply personal and deeply communal faith.
